Sensex up 74pts; Adani Exports zooms 20%

The Sensex is now up 74 points at 12,293.

Bharti Tele has surged 3% to Rs 421, and Satyam has gained 2.3% at Rs 770.

Gujarat Ambuja has flard up nearly 3% to Rs 125. Maruti and Hero Honda are up nearly 2% each at Rs 959 and Rs 845, respectively.

While HDFC Bank has advanced 2.2% to Rs 869, ICICI Bank has added 1.6% to Rs 632.

Hindalco has dropped 2.4% to Rs 230. HDFC has declined 2% to Rs 1,281.

Dr.Reddy's has slipped 1.6% to Rs 1,654, and Grasim is down 15 at Rs 2,445.

Out of 2,509 stocks traded so far, 1,437 have advanced, 996 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Adani Exports has hit the 20% upper limit at Rs 88. Ceat, Himachal Futuristic, Bhushan Steel, After Infosys, Sree Sakthi, Precision Wires, Jindal Drilling, Ispat Industries, RCF, Mirc Electronics, Reliance Capital, Apollo Tyre and Syndicate Bank are the other major gainers.

Mahindra Gesco has plunged over 6% to Rs 809. Tantia Constructions, Alstom Projects, Orient Paper, Zenith Computers, Samtel Colout, Thomas Cook, Century Textiles, Zee, Birla Corporation and Bombay Dyeing are the other prominent losers.
