Sensex up 74pts; BHEL surges 3%

The Sensex is now up 74 points at 14,278.

BHEL has surged 2.7% to Rs 1,385, and Ranbaxy have gained 2.3% at Rs 379.

SBI, Reliance Communications and Maruti have rallied 2% each to Rs 1,340, Rs 501 and Rs 743, respectively.

Reliance Energy has advanced 1.8% to Rs 536. Larsen & Toubro, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have moved up 1.4% each Rs 1,950, Rs 1,113 and Rs 918, respectively.

Tata Motors, ONGC and Gujarat Ambuja are the other prominent gainers.

NTPC has shed 1.5% to Rs 151. Grasim has slipped over 1% to Rs 2,404.

Out of 2,331 stocks traded so far, 1,451 have advanced, 813 have declined and 67 are unchanged.
