Sensex up 74pts; Jagran drops 6%

The Sensex soared to a new high of 10,305, and is now up 74 points at 10,298.

HLL has gained 3.6% at Rs 250.

Bajaj Auto and Tata Steel have rallied nearly 3% each to Rs 2,617 and Rs 423, respectively.

NTPC (Rs 133), ITC (Rs 167) and Reliance Energy (Rs 620) have spurted over 2% each.

HDFC Bank has declined 1.7% to Rs 714. Ranbaxy is down over 1% at Rs 457.

The market breadth continues to remain negative. Out of 2,492 stocks traded so far, 1,427 have declined, 982 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.

Venkys India has zoomed 13% to Rs 152. Uttam Galva, Zenith, Rei Agro, GSFC, Micro Inks, Syngenta,, Jindal Stainless, Gillette and Zee have posted sharp gains.

Jagran has dropped over 6% to Rs 257. Rain Calcining, Centurion Bank of Punjab, Jagatji Industries, VisualSoft, ICI India, Andhra Bank and Crompton Greaves are on slippery ground.
