Sensex up 74pts; REL, SBI lead

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 87 points at 15,023, but soon pared gains and slipped into red to a low of 14,896.

Renewed buying interest at lower levels saw the index rebound into the positive zone and touch a high of 15,040 - up 144 points from the day's low. The index is now up 74 points at 15,010.

Reliance Energy has soared 2.7% to Rs 757. SBI has rallied 1.7% to Rs 1,574.

Reliance Communications, ACC, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel and Ranbaxy have surged around 1.5% each to Rs 539, Rs 981, Rs 2,524, Rs 632 and Rs 373, respectively.

Maruti and Ambuja Cements are up 1% each at Rs 829 and Rs 130, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Wipro are down 1% each at Rs 1,149 and Rs 471, respectively.
