Sensex up 75pts, Satyam surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 75 points at 10,884.

Satyam has surged nearly 4% to Rs 705. HDFC and Larsen & Toubro have rallied 2.5% each to Rs 1,201 and Rs 2,425, respectively.

Hindalco has moved up 2.3% to Rs 189. Tata Power, Tata Steel and Tata Motors are the other notable gainers.

ITC has dropped 2.6% to Rs 179. NTPC and Bharti Airtel have slipped 2% each to Rs 115 and Rs 380, respectively.

Bajaj Auto (Rs 2,874), Gujarat Ambuja (Rs 97), Dr.Reddy's (Rs 1,400), Grasim (Rs 1,931) and HDFC Bank (Rs 765) are the other prominent losers.

Out of 2,461 stocks traded so far, 1,334 have advanced, 1,069 have declined and 58 are unchanged.
