Sensex up 76 pts, Cipla rallies further

Upwards bias in the market continues in mid-noon trades as heavyweights, banking, select pharma, tech, and cement counters have rallied further on strong buying support.

The Sensex advanced further to a new high of 7,071 before quoting at 7,060 in current trades - up 76 points. The Nifty has added 25 points to 2,169.

Reliance has gained 1.93% (Rs 12) to Rs 643, while ONGC is up 2.25% (Rs 21) at Rs 943.

SBI has moved up 1.44% (Rs 9) to Rs 666, while ICICI Bank is trading firm with a gain of 2.35% (Rs 9) at Rs 415. HDFC Bank is trading marginally higher at Rs 599.

Infosys, TCS and Wipro are still up a per cent each at Rs 2,390 (up Rs 15), Rs 1,305 (up Rs 9) and Rs 761 (up Rs 6), respectively.

Cipla has zoomed 7.22% (Rs 21) to Rs 305, while Ranbaxy is up a per cent (Rs 8) at Rs 1,079. Dr. Reddy's is marginally up at Rs 723.

Gujarat Ambuja has notched up 5.65% gains (Rs 3) to Rs 63, and Grasim is up 1.11% (Rs 12) at Rs 1,100.

Hindalco has gained 1.46% (Rs 17) to Rs 1,203. Tisco at Rs 353 (up Rs 5 or 1.38%) is also trading with decent gains.

Maruti is up 2.41% (Rs 11) at Rs 453, and Tata Motors has gained 1.12% (Rs 5) to Rs 419. Bajaj (down Rs 13 to Rs 1,243), however, is still trading at lower levels.
