Sensex up 767pts; DLF soars 8%

The Sensex is now up 767 points at 16,056.

The NSE Nifty is up 223 points at 4,833.

Jaiprakash (JP) Associates and Reliance Energy have zoomed over 10% each to Rs 221 and Rs 1,266, respectively.

DLF has soared nearly 8% to Rs 645. ICICI Bank, HDFC and TCS have surged around 7% each to Rs 863, Rs 2,550 and Rs 880, respectively.

Infosys has rallied 6.7% to Rs 1,452, and Reliance Communications has advanced 6% to Rs 540.

Satyam and SBI have gained 5.8% each at Rs 414 and Rs 1,740, respectively. Tata Steel has added 5.5% to Rs 625.

Hindalco, BHEL, Wipro and HDFC Bank are up over 5% each at Rs 162, Rs 1,968, Rs 419 and Rs 1,404, respectively.

Out of 2,624 stocks traded so far, 1,859 have advanced, 712 have declined and 53 are unchanged.
