Sensex up 76pts; HDFC advances 3%

The Sensex  is now up 76 points at 11,722.

Cipla has soared 4.7% to Rs 259.

HDFC has advanced 2.8% to Rs 1,290.

Maruti has rallied 2% to Rs 885. Tata Motors has surged 1.7% to Rs 933. Bajaj Auto and Hero Honda are up over 1% each at Rs 2,875 and Rs 835, respectively.

Tata Steel has advanced 1.8% to Rs 634, and Hindalco has added 1.4% to Rs 209. NTPC has spurted 1% to Rs 130.

Bharti Tele has shed 1.6% to Rs 398. Larsen & Toubro is down over 1% to Rs 2,658.

The market breadth is extremely positive. Out of 1,894 stocks traded so far, 1,235 have advanced, 610 have declined and 49 are unchanged.
