Sensex up 775pts; Wipro drops 5%

The Sensex is now up 775 points at 17,505.

The NSE Nifty is up 259 points at 5,159.

BHEL has zoomed 8.8% to Rs 2,160, and NTPC has soared 8.4% to Rs 213.

Reliance Communications and Hindalco have surged 7.8% each to Rs 620 and Rs 162, respectively.

Reliance Energy has rallied 6.7% to Rs 1,831. SBI, Reliance and HDFC have advanced 6% each to Rs 2,295, Rs 2,499 and Rs 2,628, respectively.

Satyam, Bajaj Auto and TCS have gained 5.7% each at Rs 375, Rs 2,180 and Rs 845, respectively.

Ranbaxy and DLF have moved up 5.3% each to Rs 359 and Rs 914, respectively.

ACC and Mahindra & Mahindra are up 4.5% each at Rs 755 and Rs 638, respectively.

Wipro has plunged almost 5% to Rs 408.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,447 stocks traded, 1,364 have declined, 1,059 have advanced and 24 are unchanged.
