Sensex up 779pts; breadth firm

The Sensex is now up 779 points at 16,068.

The NSE Nifty is up 213 points at 4,823.

Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has zoomed 12.3% to Rs 225. Infosys and DLF have soared 10% each to Rs 1,498 and Rs 657, respectively.

Reliance Energy has surged 9.7% to Rs 1,263, and ICICI Bank has rallied 9% to Rs 877.

Wipro has moved up 8.5% to Rs 433. HDFC has advanced over 8% to Rs 2,578, and TCS has added 7% to Rs 881.

Tata Steel and Satyam have gained 6.7% each at Rs 632 and Rs 418, respectively. BHEL has rallied over 6% to Rs 1,989.

SBI has added 5.7% to Rs 1,740. Reliance Communications, Hindalco and Maruti are up over 5% each at Rs 535, Rs 162 and Rs 852, respectively.

Out of 2,713 stocks traded so far, 2,000 have advanced, 668 have declined and 45 are unchanged.
