Sensex up 78pts; ITC, NTPC, Bharti in red

The Sensex is now up 78 points at 10,887.

The index had touched a high of 10,992, after opening with a positive gap of 46 points at 10,855.

HDFC has surged 3.6% to Rs 1,213. Satyam and Larsen & Toubro have rallied 2.7% each to Rs 698 and Rs 2,424, respectively.

Hindalco and Hero Honda have spurted over 2% each to Rs 189 and Rs 844, respectively.

ITC has dropped 1.4% to Rs 181. NTPC and Bharti Airtel have slipped over 1% each to Rs 383 and Rs 116, respectively.

Out of 2,367 stocks traded so far, 1,460 have advanced, 849 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
