Sensex up 78pts; Tata Steel gains 2%

The Sensex is now up 78 points at 12,801.

Tata Steel has surged 2.3% to Rs 513. Wipro has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 561.

Bharti Airtel, Reliance, Reliance Energy and BHEL are up around 1.5% each to Rs 499, Rs 1,213, Rs 459 and Rs 2,450, respectively.

Ranbaxy has spurted 1.3% to Rs 417. Gujarat Ambuja, Hindalco, HDFC and Tata Motors are up around 1% each to Rs 122, Rs 189, Rs 1,470 and Rs 898, respectively.

Satyam has slipped 1% to Rs 436.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,156 stocks traded so far, 1,432 have advanced, 643 have declined and 81 are unchanged.
