Sensex up 78pts; Tata Steel surges 3%

The Sensex is now up 78 points at 14,134.

Tata Steel has flared up 3% to Rs 481. HDFC Bank and TCS have advanced 2% each to Rs 1,085 and Rs 1,351, respectively.

Bajaj Auto and Reliance Energy have gained 1.7% each at Rs 2,816 and Rs 534, respectively.

Hindalco and Gujarat Ambuja have movd up 1.3% each to Rs 173 and Rs 143, respectively.

Reliance, Satyam, Cipla and ACC are up 1% each.

ITC has slipped 1% to Rs 170.

Out of 2,575 stocks traded so far, 1,777 have advanced, 744 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
