Sensex up 8 pts in early trades

Opening firm at 6,877 (up 17 pts over its previous close), the Sensex soon eased into the red to touch a low of 6,858. The Sensex at current trades, has rolled back into the green to 6,868 - up eight points. The Nifty is up a point at 2,113.

HLL has gained 1.18% to Rs 150. Reliance has slipped a per cent (Rs 3) to Rs 571, while ONGC is down Rs 2 at Rs 928.

Infosys has resumed with steady gains at Rs 2,238. TCS, Wipro and Satyam, too, have moved up marginally up at Rs 1,270, Rs 724 and Rs 474, respectively.

Bajaj (up Rs 3 to Rs 1,240), Hero Honda (up Rs 2 to Rs 542), Maruti (up Rs 3 to Rs 439) and Tata Motors (up Rs 3 to Rs 423) have logged steady gains.

SBI is up Rs 3 at Rs 689. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have resumed at weaker levels at Rs 592 and Rs 431, respectively.

Cement and pharma counters are largely flat in early trades.
