The Sensex opened 89 points higher at 10,425. The index has touched a high of 10,470, a low of 10,414, and is now up 82 points at 10,418.
Sterlite has zoomed 6.7% to Rs 337. Satyam and Tata Steel have surged over 4.5% each to Rs 188 and Rs 258, respectively.
Hindalco has gained 3% at Rs 60. Grasim has moved up 3.3% to Rs 1,379.
Jaiprakash Associates has advanced 2.6% to Rs 104. Wipro and Maruti have added 2.3% each to Rs 249 and Rs 575, respectively.
DLF, however, has slipped over 1% to Rs 276.
