Sensex up 82pts; Infosys drops 4%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 38 points at 18,697, slipped marginally into red to a low of 18,655, but soon rebounded and touched a fresh all-time intra-day high of 18,780.

The index is now up 82 points at 18,740.

Maruti has rallied over 2% to Rs 1,124. Mahindra & Mahindra has surged 1.8% to Rs 770.

Larsen & Toubro has gained 1.4% at Rs 3,420. ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Dr.Reddy's and Grasim are up around 1% each at Rs 1,081, Rs 1,435, Rs 639 and Rs 3,682, respectively.

Infosys has plunged 4% to Rs 2,040. Wipro has shed 2.6% to Rs 490. TCS and Satyam have slipped over 2% each to Rs 1,101 and Rs 474, respectively.
