Sensex up 83pts; HDFC Bank zooms 5%

The Sensex touched a new all-time intra-day high of 13,578, and is now up 83 points at 13,553.

BANKS ON A ROLL

The BSE Bankex has flared up 3.6% 3% (254 points) to 7314.

Banking stocks are witnessing frenzied buying. HDFC Bank has zoomed nearly 5% (Rs 53) to Rs 1,130, and ICICI Bank has rallied 4.2% (Rs 37) to Rs 919. SBI has surged 3% to Rs 1,214.

Gujarat Ambuja has moved up 1.3% to Rs 139, and Reliance has spurted over 1% to Rs 1,276.

Bharti Airtel has slipped 1% to Rs 573.
