Sensex up 83pts; Satyam surges 3%

The Sensex is now up 83 points at 14,627.

Satyam has surged 2.5% to Rs 482. Cipla and SBI have rallied around 2% each to Rs 222 and Rs 1,378, respectively.

BHEL has gained 1.7% at Rs 1,422. ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have moved up 1.4% each to Rs 932 and Rs 1,155, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja, Tata Steel, Infosys and TCS are up over 1% each at Rs 115, Rs 640, Rs 1,943 and Rs 1,220, respectively.

Hero Honda and ITC have shed 1.3% each to Rs 722 and Rs 161, respectively. Tata Motors is down 1% at Rs 750.

Out of 2,576 stocks traded so far, 1,484 have advanced, 985 have declined and 107 are unchanged.
