Sensex up 84pts; ACC, BHEL, Maruti shine

The Sensex touched a new all-time intra-day high of 10,468, and is now up 84 points at 10,454.

ACC has gained 4.4% at Rs 655, and Grasim has surged 3.4% to Rs 1,802. Gujarat Ambuja is up 2.5% at Rs 90.40.

BHEL has added 3.8% to Rs 2,104, and Larsen & Toubro has advanced 2% to Rs 2,445. Bharti Tele has flared up 2.4% to Rs 370.

Maruti has zoomed 4% to Rs 855. Tata Motors and Hero Honda have rallied 2% each to Rs 831 and Rs 904, respectively. Bajaj Auto has moved up 1.8% to Rs 2,648.

Tata Power has surged 2.6% to Rs 524.

HLL has advacned 1.7% to Rs 246. Satyam has spurted 2% to Rs 784. ITC has added 1% to Rs 174.

ONGC has dropped 1.5% to Rs 1,119. Reliance Energy and Wipro have slipped 1% each to Rs 613 and Rs 516, respectively.

The market breadth is slightly positive. Out of 2,351 stocks traded so far, 1,239 have advanced, 1,026 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Kesoram Industries has zoomed 11% to Rs 185. Balmer Lawrie, Goodricke, Harrison Malyalam, Williamson Tea, Madras Cement, Century Textiles, Birla Corporation, BEML, Nestle, Polaris, Jaiprakash Associates, Crompton Greaves, India Cement and Colgate are trading with sharp gains.

Jindal Photo has plunged nearly 8% to Rs 169. Supreme Petro, Zenith, Indo Rama, IDFC, Classic Diamond, IFCI, KLG Systel, Canara Bank, Zee, Chambal Fertilisers, Jindal Steel and Gujarat Narmada are the other major losers.
