Sensex up 84pts; HDFC, HLL up 3%

The Sensex is now up 84 points at 10,126.

The market breadth continues to remain weak - out of 2,275 stocks traded so far, 1,628 have declined, 587 have advanced and 60 are unchanged.

ITC has soared 5.5% to Rs 175. HDFC has surged 3.3% to Rs 1,081. HLL has gained 3% at Rs 221.

Wipro has added 2.6% to Rs 475. Tata Steel, Tata Motors and Satyam have advanced 1.8% each to Rs 505, Rs 744 and Rs 684, respectively.

Reliance and Larsen & Toubro are up 1.5% each at Rs 997 and Rs 2,114, respectively. Infosys has gained 1.3% at Rs 2,931.

RCoVL has plunged 5% to Rs 229. Reliance Energy has slumped 3.5% to Rs 431.

HDFC Bank and Cipla have shed 2.5% each to Rs 741 and Rs 213, respectively.

BHEL has dropped 1.7% to Rs 1,804.
