Sensex up 84pts; Tata Steel surges 3%

The Sensex is now up 84 points at 15,671.

The NSE Nifty is up seven points at 4,717.

BHEL has surged nearly 4% to Rs 1,778. Tata Steel has gained 3.5% at Rs 679.

HDFC has rallied 2.8% to Rs 2,373. Ambuja Cements and ICICI Bank have moved up nearly 2% each to Rs 120 and Rs 827, respectively.

Cipla, HDFC Bank and Larsen & Toubro are up around 1.5% each at Rs 216, Rs 1,323 and Rs 2,618, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever and Maruti have slipped 1.7% each to Rs 243 and Rs 731, respectively.

ITC, Satyam, Bharti Airtel and Jaiprakash Associates have dropped 1.5% each to Rs 205, Rs 423, Rs 817 and Rs 218, respectively.

Out of 2,622 stocks traded so far, 1,694 have advanced, 846 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
