Sensex up 855pts; breadth -ve

The Sensex is now up 855 points at 18,077.

Reliance Energy has zoomed nearly 10% to Rs 1,995. ONGC and ICICI Bank have soared around 9% each to Rs 1,033 and Rs 1,234, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors and Ranbaxy have surged around 6% each to Rs 665, Rs 700 and Rs 367, respectively.

Tata Steel has gained 5.5% at Rs 708. Bajaj Auto, NTPC and BHEL have rallied around 5% each to Rs 2,216, Rs 214 and Rs 2,196, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Grasim have advanced 4.5% each to Rs 1,576 and Rs 3,023, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, ITC and Cipla have moved up around 4% each to Rs 195, Rs 196 and Rs 182, respectively.

HDFC, DLF and Bharti Airtel are also up around 4% each at Rs 2,715, Rs 927 and Rs 885, respectively.

Hindalco, Infosys and SBI have advanced 3.5% each to Rs 158, Rs 1,470 and Rs 2,427, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,528 stocks traded so far, 1,412 have declined, 1,084 have advanced and 32 are unchanged.
