Sensex up 85pts; Hindalco surges 3%

The Sensex is now up 85 points at 12,433.

Hindalco has surged 2.6% to Rs 231. Tata Steel has added 1.5% to Rs 665.

Dr.Reddy's, which recorded a freak trade at Rs 1,917, is now up 2% at Rs 1,680.

Satyam has spurted 2% to Rs 782, and Wipro has gained 1.5% at Rs 548.

Reliance has advanced 1.5% to Rs 1,095. Larsen & Toubro has rallied 1.5% to Rs 2,675, and NTPC has added 1.3% to Rs 134.

While Grasim has moved up 1.4% to Rs 2,442, Gujarat Ambuja has gained 1% at Rs 120.

ICICI Bank has declined 1.8% to Rs 649, and HDFC Bank has slipped 1.2% to Rs 870.

HLL has dropped 1% to Rs 290.

The market breadth is extremely positive. Out of 1,778 stocks traded so far, 1,288 have advanced, 458 have declined and 32 are unchanged.
