Sensex up 87pts; GMR Inds zooms 17%

The Sensex is now up 87 points at 12,435.

Hindalco has surged 3.3% to Rs 232. Tata Steel has added 1.5% to Rs 665.

Reliance has rallied over 2% to Rs 1,102. Dr.Reddy's, too, has gained 2% at Rs 1,680.

Satyam has spurted 1.7% to Rs 779, and Wipro has gained 1.5% at Rs 548.

Grasim, Gujarat Ambuja and ACC are up over 1% each at Rs 2,440, Rs 120 and Rs 985, respectively.

ICICI Bank and HLL are down over 1% each at Rs 652 and Rs 290, respectively.

Out of 2,164 stocks traded so far, 1,453 have advanced, 655 have declined and 56 are unchanged.

GMR Industries has zoomed 17% to Rs 323. KEC Infrastructure, Ajanta Pharma, Adani Exports, Syham Telecom, Color Chips, Precision Wires, Kotak Bank, National Fertilisers, VSNL, Reliance Communication Ventures, Gujarat Ind Power, United Phosphorous, GE Shipping and IPCL are the other major gainers.

Vard Holding has plunged 6% to Rs 465. Premier, Reliance Natural Resources, Coral Labs, Tantian Construction, Saksoft,, KSB Pumps, Gujarat Gas and Syndicate Bank are the other major losers.
