Sensex up 87pts; HLL, TCS soar 4%

The Sensex is now up 87 points at 12,971.

HLL, TCS, Hero Honda and Larsen & Toubro have soared nearly 4% each to Rs 206, Rs 1,248, Rs 681 and Rs 1,626, respectively.

Maruti and Ranbaxy have rallied around 2.5% each to Rs 819 and Rs 346, respectively. Satyam has advanced over 2% to Rs 466.

Dr.Reddy's has gained almost 2% at Rs 707. HDFC amd Gujarat Ambuja are up over 1% each to Rs 1,537 and Rs 103, respectively.

HDFC Bank has slipped 2% to Rs 937. Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto have declined over 1% each to Rs 710 and Rs 2,435, respectively.

Out of 2,502 stocks traded so far, 1,473 have advanced, 961 have declined and 68 are unchanged.
