The NSE Nifty is up 16 points at 5,106.
Tata Steel has surged nearly 3% to Rs 800. HDFC and Jaiprakash Associates have rallied over 2% each to Rs 2,778 and Rs 256, respectively.
Ranbaxy has moved up 1.8% to Rs 487. SBI, Hindalco and NTPC are up over 1% each to Rs 1,756, Rs 188 and Rs 195, respectively.
Bharti Airtel has shed 2.6% at Rs 904. BHEL is down 1% at Rs 1,849.
The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,393 stocks traded so far, 1,218 have advanced, 1,115 have declined and 60 are unchanged.
