Sensex up 898pts; ONGC, ICICI zoom 10%

The Sensex is now up 898 points at 18,120.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 11% to Rs 2,015. ONGC and ICICI Bank have soared around 10% each to Rs 1,040 and Rs 1,245, respectively.

Ranbaxy has surged 7.6% to Rs 373. BHEL and HDFC Bank have rallied around 7% each to Rs 2,245 and Rs 1,610, respectively.

Tata Motors has gained 6.5% at Rs 705. Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever and Tata Steel have advanced around 6% each to Rs 665, Rs 199 and Rs 712, respectively.

NTPC has moved up 5.7% to Rs 215. Bajaj Auto, Cipla and ITC have rallied 5% each to Rs 2,216, Rs 184 and Rs 198, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has surged 4.7% to Rs 892, and Grasim has added 4.3% to Rs 3,020.

Hindalco, SBI, DLF and HDFC are up over 4% each to Rs 158, Rs 2,442, Rs 929 and Rs 2,720, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,572 stocks traded so far, 1,381 have declined, 1,155 have advanced and 36 are unchanged.
