Sensex up 90pts; just 14 short of 12K

The Sensex is within striking distance of 12,000. The index is now at the day's high of 11,986 - up 90 points.

Hindalco has soared nearly 6% to Rs 216. Tata Steel has rallied nearly 5% to Rs 638.

Reliance Industries has surged over 3% to Rs 950.

The Sensex is hovering around the day's high of 11,977, and is now up 63 points at 11,959.

Tata Steel has rallied nearly 5% to Rs 638. Hindalco has surged over 4% to Rs 213.

Reliance has gained 2.6% at Rs 945. Grasim has soared nearly 2% at Rs 2,353. Bajaj Auto is up 1.7% at Rs 3,000.

HDFC has dropped 3% to Rs 1,263. TCS has slipped 1.5% to Rs 1,986.

Hero Honda, Bharti Tele, Ranbaxy and NTPC are down over 1% each.
