Fresh buying in technology stocks has lifted the Sensex back to higher levels. The index is now up 90 points at 10,855. TCS has soared 3.6% to Rs 1,827. Satyam has surged 2.4% to Rs 835, and Wipro has moved up 2.2% to Rs 531. Infosys has gained over 1% at Rs 2,949. NTPC has added 2.2% to Rs 140. Reliance Energy is up nearly 1% at Rs 644. Bharti Tele has advanced 2% to Rs 392. ONGC has added 1.8% to Rs 1,171. Larsen & Toubro and SBI are up 1.5% each at Rs 2,550 and Rs 934, respectively. Bajaj Auto, Hindalco and HLL have advanced over 1% each to Rs 2,783, Rs 162 and Rs 255, respectively. Hero Honda has slipped 1% to Rs 895. HDFC, ITC and Gujarat Ambuja are the other notable losers among the Sensex stocks. The market breadth is marginally negative. Out of 2,583 stocks traded so far, 1,257 have declined, 1,243 have advanced and 83 are unchanged. Pantalook Retail and Rayban have zoomed over 13% each to Rs 1,950 and Rs 104, respectively. Shirram Transport, Bajaj Hindustan, Rochi Soya, Reliance Natural Resources, Jyoti Structure, GTL, NIIT, Tamilnadu Newsprint, MphasiS BFL, Thermax, Escorts and Reliance Communication Ventures have gained sharply. JK Cement has plunged over 11% to Rs 149. GIC Housing, Sakuma Exports, iGate Global, Indo Gulf Fertilisers, Mysore Cement, Everest Industries, Goodricke, Ingersoll Rand, FDC and Punjab Tractors are the other notable losers. |
