Sensex up 91pts; L&T, Ranbaxy shine

The Sensex continues to hover around the day's high of 10,180. The index is presently up 91 points at 10,170.

Larsen & Toubro has rallied 3.8% to Rs 2,330, and Ranbaxy has added 3.6% to Rs 454.

Hindalco has jumped nearly 2% to Rs 157.

Wipro, HDFC and Tata Steel have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 520, Rs 1,341 and Rs 402, respectively.

BHEL (Rs 1,850), Reliance Energy (Rs 606), ITC (Rs 165), Hero Honda (Rs 895), BHEL (Rs 1,846), Cipla (Rs 548), Bharti (Rs 367) and Bajaj Auto (Rs 2,439) are up over 1% each.

The market breadth continues to remain positive. Out of 2,362 stocks traded so far, 1,376 have advanced, 892 have declined and 94 are unchanged.

Sothern Petro has zoomed over 10% to Rs 26.80 and GMDC has rallied nearly 10% to Rs 448. Henkel India,, Videocon Appliances, GTC Industries, Gujarat Alkalies, PBA Infrastructure, HFCL, Birla Corporation, VisualSoft and Raymond are the other major gainers.

Venkys India has dropped 5.7% to Rs 136. Color Chips, Ramco Industries, EIH, Mirc Electronics, Union Bank, GE Shipping, Pidilite and Nirma are the other notable losers.
