Sensex up 93pts; Infosys gains 4%

Intra-day profit-taking saw the Sensex shed 137 points from its peak of 11,931, as it touched a low of 11,794. The index is now up 93points at 11,840.

Infosys has pared gains, but still leads the upmove with a gain of nearly 4% at Rs 3,235. The company today announced that its board will meet on April 14 to consider a proposal for bonus issue of equity shares.

Tata Power, Larsen & Toubro and Hindalco has rallied over 2% each to Rs 598, Rs 2,697 and Rs 191, respectively.

Grasim has added nearly 2% to Rs 2,210. Tata Steel, BHEL and Dr.Reddy's are up 1.3% each at Rs 549, Rs 2,381 and Rs 1,480, respectively.

Wipro, TCS, Bharti Tele and ACC have gained 1% each.

HDFC Bank has dropped nearly 2% to Rs 826. Satyam and Ranbaxy have slipped 1.5% each to Rs 845 and Rs 467, respectively.

Cipla has declined over 1% to Rs 737.

The market breadth is highly positive. Out of 1,977 stocks traded so far, 1,462 have advanced, 484 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
