Sensex up 951pts; L&T, NTPC surge

The Sensex is now up 951 points at 18,173.

ICICI Bank has zoomed 10.7% to Rs 1,254. Reliance Energy has soared 10.4% to Rs 2,005, and ONGC has gained 9% at Rs 1,029.

Ranbaxy has surged 8.7% to Rs 377. HDFC Bank has soared over 8% to Rs 1,631.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has rallied 7% to Rs 3,786. Tata Motors and NTPC have advanced over 6% each to Rs 702 and Rs 216, respectively.

DLF has gained 5.5% at Rs 942. Hindalco and Mahindra & Mahindra have added 5.3% each to Rs 160 and Rs 659, respectively.

ITC is up 5% at Rs 198.

Out of 2,646 stocks traded so far, 1,407 have declined, 1,214 have advanced and 25 are unchanged.
