The Sensex today opened flat at 16,030 and touched a high of 16,140. The index is now firm at 16,112, up 95 points.
The NSE Nifty is at 4,808, up 26 points.
Sterlite has advanced 2.5% to Rs 725. TCS, Hindalco and DLF have added over 1.5% each to Rs 559, Rs 110 and Rs 441, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure, Jaiprakash Associates, Hero Honda, Maruti, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel are up over 1% each.
