Sensex up 96pts; Cipla gains 3%

The Sensex is now up 96 points at 14,494.

BHEL has soared 4.4% to Rs 2,843. Cipla has surged 3% to Rs 215, and Larsen & Toubro has gained 2.5% at Rs 1,828.

Ranbaxy has advanced 2% to Rs 390. Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications and HLL have moved up around 1.5% each to Rs 559, Rs 518 and Rs 203, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Reliance and SBI are up around 1% each at Rs 1,138, Rs 1,739 and Rs 1,318, respectively.

HDFC has shed 1.6% to Rs 1,815.

Out of 2,619 stocks traded so far, 1,375 have advanced, 1,138 have declined and 106 are unchanged.
