Sensex up 97pts; Infosys gains 6%

The Sensex is now up 97 points at 16,250.

The NSE Nifty is up 11 points at 4,891.

Infosys has soared 5.7% to Rs 1,597, and Wipro has surged over 4% to Rs 446.

Reliance Energy has rallied 3% to Rs 1,340, and Hindalco has moved up 1.8% to Rs 177.

ICICI Bank has advanced 1.3% to Rs 818. ITC and Reliance are up over 1% each at Rs 210 and Rs 2,640, respectively.

Ambuja Cements and BHEL have plunged nearly 3.5% each to Rs 113 and Rs 1,775, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates has shed 2.5% at Rs 214. Hindustan Unilever, NTPC and Tata Motors have slipped 1.7% each to Rs 241, Rs 188 and Rs 615, respectively.

Bharti Airtel is down 1.3% at Rs 806.

Out of 2,725 stocks traded, 1,897 have advanced, 751 have declined and 77 are unchanged.
