Sensex up 98pts; Infosys down 2%

The Sensex is now up 98 points at 12,037.

TCS has soared 2.6% to Rs 1,993. Bharti Tele is up 2% at Rs 420.

Hindalco has surged 2.4% to Rs 220, and Tata Steel is up 1.5% at Rs 664.

ITC and Reliance have rallied over 2% each to Rs 206, Rs 999, respectively. HLL has gained 1.7% at Rs 294.

BHEL and Larsen & Toubro are up 2% each at Rs 2,412 and Rs 2,717, respectively.

HDFC has advanced 2% at Rs 1,322.

ONGC has plunged 3.3% to Rs 1,340. Infosys has dropped 2% to Rs 3,165. Maruti has slipped 1.3% to Rs 911.

The market breadth continues to remain very positive. Out of 2,510 stocks traded so far, 1,623 have moved up, 814 have slipped and the rest are unchanged.

NTPC continues to lead the value chart with a turnover of Rs 146.46 crore followed by Reliance (Rs 136.34 crore), ONGC (Rs 97.08 crore), Indiabulls (Rs 70.72 crore) and Maruti (Rs 56.85 crore).

NTPC also tops the volume chart with trades of around 1.13 crore shares followed by RCF (63.72 lakh), Reliance Natural Resources (63.35 lakh), Hindustan Motors (43.78 lakh) and Ashok Leyland (30 lakh).
