Sensex up 99pts; Ranbaxy slips 1%

The Sensex is now up 99 points at 11,611.

Reliance Communications has surged 3.5% to Rs 300. Hindalco has added 2.6% to Rs 166.

Hero Honda, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel have advanced nearly 2% each to Rs 710, Rs 418 and Rs 517, respectively.

ICICI Bank, ONGC, Maruti, ITC, HDFC Bank, Reliance and Wipro are the other singificant gainers.

Ranbaxy has slipped nearly 1% to Rs 397.

Out of 2,404 stocks traded so far, 1,479 have advanced, 850 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
