Sensex up 9pts; Bajaj Auto, Rel Energy surge

The Sensex is now up nine points at 15,552.

Bajaj Auto has soared nearly 3% to Rs 2,400. Reliance Energy has surged 2.5% to Rs 882.

HDFC and Reliance have rallied 1.4% each to Rs 2,178 and Rs 2,013, respectively.

Tata Steel and SBI are the other notable gainers.

ITC and NTPC have shed 1.7% each to Rs 181 and Rs 192, respectively.

ICICI Bank has slipped 1.4% to Rs 889, Cipla has declined 1.2% to Rs 176.

Satyam, Ranbaxy and Larsen & Toubro are the other prominent losers.

Out of 2,714 stocks traded so far, 1,608 have advanced, 1,055 have declined and 51 are unchanged.
