The Sensex opened 74 points higher at 9,078, and is now up 102 points at 9,106.
Wipro, ACC, ONGC and Mahindra & Mahindra have rallied 3.3% each to Rs 234, Rs 503, Rs 641 and Rs 281, respectively.
Grasim and Tata Motors have gained 3% each at Rs 1,216 and Rs 145, respectively.
Sun Pharma has moved up 2.5% to Rs 1,171. Ranbaxy and Larsen & Toubro have advanced over 2% each to Rs 203 and Rs 652, respectively.
ITC and ICICI Bank have added 1.7% each to Rs 174 and Rs 388, respectively.
Reliance Communications (RCom) has plunged nearly 3% to Rs 167, and Bharti Airtel has slipped 1.6% to Rs 637.
Reliance Infrastructure and NTPC are down 1% each at Rs 534 and Rs 188, respectively.
