The Sensex opened almost flat at 9710 - down five points. The index touched a high of 9,798, and is now up 41 points at 9,756.
Satyam has soared 6% to Rs 167. Sterlite has surged 2.8% to Rs 279.
Jaiprakash Associates and Wipro have rallied over 2% each to Rs 79 and Rs 248, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra has moved up 1.7% to Rs 309. Infosys, Hindalco, Tata Motors and TCS have gained 1.5% each at Rs 1,157, Rs 55, Rs 164 and Rs 484, respectively.
ACC has slipped over 2% to Rs 476. ONGC has declined 1.5% to Rs 706, and Reliance is down 1.3% at Rs 1,333.
