Sensex up nearly 100pts; M&M, SBI shine

The Sensex is now up 91 points at 14,667.

The NSE Nifty is up 24 points at 4,419.

HDFC Bank has rallied 5% to Rs 1,164, and ICICI Bank has surged over 4% to Rs 667.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and SBI have gained over 2.5% each at Rs 534 and Rs 1,547, respectively.

Tata Motors and Reliance Infrastructure have advanced over 2% each to Rs 405 and Rs 1,023, respectively.

BHEL and DLF have moved up over 1% each to Rs 1,736 and Rs 519, respectively.

Hindalco, HDFC and Hindustan Unilever are up 1% each at Rs 144, Rs 2,396 and Rs 236, respectively.

 

Sterlite has slumped nearly 6% to Rs 588. Tata Steel has shed 2.5% at Rs 674.

Infosys has slipped 1.5% to Rs 1,631, and Wipro is down over 1% each at Rs 426.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,272 stocks traded so far, 1,607 have advanced, 598 have slipped and the rest are unchanged.
