The Sensex is now up 482 points at 14,274.
The NSE Nifty is up 125 points at 4,315.
Tata Power has zoomed over 8% to Rs 1,128, and HDFC has soared 7.8% to Rs 2,270.
Tata Steel has surged nearly 7% to Rs 625. HDFC Bank and Reliance Infrastructure have rallied around 6% each to Rs 1,090 and Rs 964, respectively.
Sterlite and ICICI Bank have surged around 5% each to Rs 621 and Rs 639, respectively.
Wipro, BHEL and SBI have advanced 4.5% each to Rs 421, Rs 1,664 and Rs 1,380, respectively.
Bharti Airtel has gained 4% at Rs 810. Reliance Communications, Reliance and Ranbaxy have moved up over 3.5% each to Rs 508, Rs 2,164 and Rs 492, respectively.
Grasim, Jaiprakash Associates, Satyam, ACC and Infosys are up around 3% each to Rs 1,845, Rs 158, Rs 380, Rs 586 and Rs 1,585, respectively.
NTPC has dropped 4.3% to Rs 171. Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 2.3% at Rs 489, and ITC has slipped 1.3% to Rs 188.
Out of 2,598 stocks traded so far, 1,795 have advanced, 722 have declined and 81 are unchanged.
