Sensex up over 300pts; HDFC, Wipro rally 5%

The Sensex opened with a significant positive gap of 312 points at 9,277 following the double bonanza - RBI rate cut and government's stimulus package - over the weekend. The index touched a high of 9,406, then pared gains and touched a low of 9,255.

The Sensex is now up 329 points at 9,294.

DLF has zoomed 7.5% to Rs 218, and Jaiprakash Associates has soared 6.5% to Rs 71.

Grasim has surged over 6% to Rs 998. Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Communications and HDFC Bank have rallied around 5.5% each to Rs 562, Rs 208 and Rs 936, respectively.

HDFC and Wipro have gained over 5% each at Rs 1,510 and Rs 239, respectively.

 

Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Power and Tata Steel have moved up nearly 5% each to Rs 265, Rs 701 and Rs 192, respectively.

ACC, Larsen & Toubro and Tata Motors are up over 4% each at Rs 447, Rs 760 and Rs 159, respectively.
