Sensex volatile in early trades

After opening with a positive gap of 34 points at 10,887, the index first rallied to a high of 10,917 and then slipped into the negative zone to a low of 10,769 - a swing of 148 points in the first few minutes of trading.

The index is swinging in and out of the positive zone and is now down 10 points at 10,843.
