Sensex volatile, ITC shines

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 13 points and suddenly bounced back to green for a short while and then again plunged into red within a few minutes of the trading session. The Sensex is currently down 3 points at 6103.

ITC and HDFC Bank were mainly responsible for the pulling the Sensex out of its gloom. ITC is trading strong at Rs 1400 (up Rs 55), while HDFC Bank rose Rs 6 to Rs 496. Grasim climbed Rs 8 to 1266.

 The tech counter is seeing a correction after a choppy ride yesterday. Infosys is down Rs 3 at Rs 1900, while Wipro too has declined Rs 3 to Rs 644.

HLL having is till having a good run from yesterday's close and has advanced by a rupee to Rs 148.

L&T has slumped by a per cent to Rs 915. Ranbaxy  leapt by a per cent (up Rs 12) to 991, while Dr Reddy remained weak at Rs 724(down Rs 3).

Bharati and ONGC are trading on a higher note at  Rs 202 and Rs 784 respectively.

Maruti is marginally down at Rs 410, while Tata Motors dipped to Rs 460.

It seems the markets will undergo a volatile session today.
