Trend shows distinct lack of interest in bourses

Volatility in the stock markets hit a 10-year low in the financial year ended March 2003.

The volatility in stock prices, as indicated by the difference between the high and the low of the 30-scrip Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensex during the year, fell to a 10-year low of 710 points.

The previous lowest difference between the high and the low of the index was recorded in fiscal 1995-96 at 791 points.

In 2002-03, from a high of 3538 on April 5, 2002, to a low of 2828 on October 28, 2002, the fall in sensex translates into just 710 points. This signifies lack of trading interest in the stock markets, brokers said.
