Sensex weak in early trades, down 8 pts

The Sensex opened marginally weak at 6,757 over its previous close, but edged lower on selling pressure in select old economy stocks to touch a low of 6,737.

Selective gains have seen the Sensex trim losses to 6,750 - down eight points. The Nifty, however, is up a point at 2,094.

HLL has shed 1.76% (Rs 3) to Rs 145, and ITC is down a per cent (Rs 9) at Rs 1,572. ONGC, too, has commenced weak at Rs 932 - down Rs 4. Reliance, however, is up Rs 2 at Rs 554.

Tisco has dropped 2.79% (Rs 10) to Rs 339.

ICICI Bank is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 397, and HDFC Bank is up a rupee at Rs 554.

Bajaj has slipped a per cent (Rs 12) to Rs 1,269. Hero Honda (down Rs 2 to Rs 550), too, has inched lower in early trades.

While Dr. Reddy's has resumed lower at Rs 720 (down Rs 7), Cipla is marginally up at Rs 290.

HDFC is down a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 775, while L&T has gained a per cent (Rs 7) to Rs 1,106.

Grasim and Gujarat Ambuja have commenced with modest gains at Rs 1,101 and Rs 449, respectively.

Wipro has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 5) to Rs 720. Other tech pivotals have made a flat opening.
