Sensex zooms 144pts; HLL, Tata Steel up 5%

The Sensex touched a high of 11,097, and is now up 144 points at 11,094.

HLL and Tata Steel have surged nearly 5% each to Rs 268 and Rs 517, respectively.

ITC and ACC have soared 3.5% each to Rs 192 and Rs 789, respectively. Hindalco has added 3.2% to Rs 175.

Dr.Reddy's has rallied 2.7% to Rs 1,470, and ONGC is up 2.6% at Rs 1,253. Cipla and Tata Power have advanced over 2% each to Rs 641 and Rs 601, respectively.

Bharti Tele has moved up nearly 2% to Rs 390. Reliance is up 1.5% at Rs 794.

NTPC, Reliance Energy and SBI are up over 1% each at Rs 137, Rs 615 and Rs 992, respectively.

Wipro has dropped 2% to Rs 521.

Out of 2.576 stocks traded so far, 1,419 have moved up, 1,080 have slipped and 77 are unchanged.
