Sensex zooms 147pts, SBI gains 3%

 SBI moved up 2.8% (Rs 28) to Rs 999. ICICI Bank moved up 2.7% (Rs 18) to Rs 678. HDFC Bank was up over 1% at Rs 888.

Wipro advanced up over 2% (Rs 12) to Rs 526. TCS was up Rs 19 at Rs 1,044, and Satyam gained Rs 6 to Rs 834. 

HLL gained over 2% (Rs 6) to Rs 259. While Reliance added Rs 15 to Rs 1,178, ONGC was up Rs 10 at Rs 1,178. ITC, however, was down marginally to Rs 184.

Maruti moved up over 2% (Rs 20) to Rs 946. While Bajaj gained Rs 36 to Rs 2,902, Hero Honda was up Rs 16 at Rs 788. Tata Motors added Rs 11 to Rs 857.

BHEL advanced over 2% (Rs 51) to Rs 2,377. Reliance Communications, Bharti, Grasim, ACC and Tata Steel also closed with gains today.

Volume & Turnover Toppers

 Debutant Action Construction topped the volume chart with trades of nearly 58 lakh shares followed by RNRL (56 lakh shares), KEW Industries (54 lakh shares) and Deep Industries (52 lakh shares).

Reliance topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 168 crore followed by Mahindra Gesco (Rs 151 crore), Unity Infrastructure (Rs 142 crore), Action (Rs 115 crore) and Tulip (Rs 102 crore).
