Sensex zooms 81pts; SBI gains 2%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 33 points at 12,547. The index touched a low of 12,531, and then zoomed to a new all-time intra-day high of 12,612.

The index is now up 81 points at 12,595.

SBI has advanced 1.7% to Rs 992. ICICI Bank has added 1.4% to Rs 648.

Bajaj Auto has surged 1.5% to Rs 3,213. Hero Honda is up nearly 1% at Rs 888.

Bharti Tele, Hindalco and Larsen & Toubro have spurted over 1% each to Rs 421, Rs 232 and Rs 2,800, respectively.

HLL, Dr.Reddy's and Cipla are the other smart gainers among the Sensex stocks.

HDFC has declined nearly 1% to Rs 1,345.
